Abrasives Incorporated is a North Dakota based corporation that originated in 1990 as a silica and coal slag producer.  Production first began at the Elgin, ND plant.

Our company soon expanded due to increasing demand for our fine quality products. The Glen Ullin, ND plant opened in 2001 with access to railroad facilities to increase delivery availability.

Abrasives Inc. delivers loads of Black Magic® coal slag to every state and providence in the United States, Canada and Mexico.  We are committed to supplying you with quality material when you need it, where you need it!

Sand. Sand. Sand. Fine Sand. Coarse (Course) Sand. Black Sand. Tan Sand -- Man, they've got some Grand Sand.

You'll find Abrasives Inc offices on the plains of southwestern North Dakota.  The view looking out from inside the office puts on a scenic display of rolling hills, buttes, and a small creek nearby which is the path for frequent visiting deer and wild turkeys. If you're an office worker or a plant worker, it is a delight to be in this area of the state of North Dakota.

The product produced at the Glen Ullin, ND location is coal slag, trademarked as Black Magic®.  The coal slag is a byproduct of the lignite coal fired electrical generation plants.  The product is trucked in from the coal plants, processed at the Glen Ullin Plant and then sold for various uses.  The majority of the coal slag Black Magic® is used in the sandblasting and pipeline industries. Aptly called "The Tough Stuff", Black Magic® is shipped to all parts of the United States, Canada, and Mexico. 

While Black Magic® coal slag is the primary business, the Dakota Gold™ silica top dress sand is picking up lots of speed. In Elgin, ND, the silica sand product is hauled from our local silica sand pit south of town.  The product is then washed, graded and sold for various uses such as well packing, filtration, and geothermal applications.  The main product sold, however, is top dress sand for golf courses. Abrasives Inc provides top dress for many, many golf courses in North Dakota as well as golf courses in South Dakota, Montana and Wyoming.
